Sign-Up for Kansas Legislative Day

The 2016 Kansas Legislative Session begins Monday and this allegedly “quiet” session is already looking like it could be very interesting.  It is important that homebuilders retain a strong presence in the Capitol, especially as they debate how to fix the $200 million (or more) budget shortfall for the current fiscal year.

We are less than THREE WEEKS out from our 2016 KBIA Legislative Day, so re-circle Wednesday, January 27 on your calendar!  The general schedule will be relatively similar to last year, but our morning meeting and legislative reception will be at the Dillon House this year (404 SW 9th Street, Topeka, KS 66612).  It is a beautifully restored historic house immediately west of the Kansas State Capitol.

Our schedule for the day (pending any last minute scrambling changes due to the legislative schedule) will be as follows:

10:00-Noon:  KBIA 1Q Board Meeting
Noon-1pm:  Lunch
1pm-3:30pm:  Capitol Visits
4pm-6pm:  KBIA Legislative Reception

Attending the Legislative Day is a great way to directly participate in government advocacy for the building industry, as well as put you in contact with your state legislators.  If you are interested, please RSVP to Katie at katie@kchba.org or call 816-733-2241.  We will organize a carpool to drive to Topeka as the date approaches.
