REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN CONTRACTOR LICENSE
In order to maintain the contractor license, every qualified individual must complete a minimum of hours of continuing education per license class. In Kansas, a minimum of eight hours is required by the Contractor Licensing Review Board each calendar year. A minimum of four of these hours are required to be code credit hours. In Missouri, 32 hours of continuing education are required for each renewal every four years.
If you have questions about how many hours you need, please contact the city you’re working in or Johnson County Contractor Licensing (JCCL) at (913) 715-2233 if you are in Kansas.
HOW TO EARN CONTRACTOR CODE CREDIT HOURS
There are several options for those looking to take classes to fulfill their code credit requirements. JCCL offers seminars in the spring and the fall. JCCL classes are approved for cities in the greater Kansas City area, including Kansas and Missouri. The KCHBA also offers opportunities for contractors to earn code credit periodically throughout the year to assist with meeting requirements.
