Permit Activity Focused in New Developments (February 2018)

With 876 residential units permitted in the first two months of 2018, the metro area activity has slowed slightly compared to 2017.  The first two months of 2017 saw 934 units permitted, which was 6% higher than the current year.

Blue Springs has recorded the highest number of permits during January and February – replacing Kansas City, Missouri in the top spot for the first time in years.  Blue Springs permit activity is primarily in three developments – Tequesta Village, Colonial Highlands, and Eagle Ridge Villas.  Tequesta Village, with 22 units permitted in February, will eventually include 123 units in three-, four- and five-plexes.  Colonial Highlands will be comprised of 66 units in 33 buildings when completed; 22 of those units were issued permits during February.  Eagle Ridge Villas, also a duplex community, recorded 44 units in February.

Other growing communities are New Town at Harmony (in Independence) with 9 units, Lee’s Summit’s Legacy Wood at 11 permits, and Cottonwood Creek in Kearney with 13 permits.
