Free Webinar Explores Enforcement of OSHA Silica Rule

NAHB is hosting a free webinar on Thursday, Nov. 8, Lessons Learned: OSHA Silica Rule 1 Year After Implementation, that will look at how the agency

has been enforcing its new Respirable Crystalline Silica in Construction Standard.

OSHA is ramping up enforcement of the standard at home building sites across the country. Compliance with the far-reaching rules has been challenging because silica dust can be created from numerous construction tasks, from cutting concrete to moving dirt around the jobsite.

Looking at the OSHA silica rule in retrospect, the webinar will provide builders and trade contractors with practical lessons learned about the standard and how to comply and avoid penalties.

The webinar is presented free of charge due to support from Builders Mutual, the official safety sponsor of NAHB.

Webinar speakers include Bradford Hammock, an attorney at law firm Jackson Lewis P.C., and Sean Purcell, C-MESH, CBIA, Technical Manager Risk Management at Builders Mutual.

Topics include the most common violations of the new silica standard, keys to compliance with the standard, and the numerous resources available to builders and contractors to help with compliance.

The webinar offers one hour of continuing education credits for certain NAHB designations.

While the webinar is free, space is limited. Please register by Wednesday, Nov. 7.

NAHB resources and background information for complying with the new rule can be found nahb.org/silica.
