This Fourth of July Week, NAHB Urges Members to Call their U.S. Senators on Housing Finance Reform

NAHB encourages all HBA members to contact their U.S. Senators to urge them to support Senate Bill 1217, the Housing Finance Reform and Taxpayer Protection Act of 2014.  The Senate Banking Committee approved S.B. 1217 with bipartisan support but the bill has since languished in the Senate.  The bill is critical for fixing the nation’s flawed housing finance system and to breathe new life into the housing sector by providing a consistent and affordable supply of mortgage credit for single-family and multifamily housing.  Increased support for the bill will put pressure on the Majority Leader to hold a vote on the bill.  Kansas Senator Jerry Moran is already a supporter.  To contact Kansas Senator Pat Roberts or Missouri Senators Roy Blunt or Claire McCaskill, visit the KCHBA’s Legislative Action Center and click on the “Find your Elected Official” button.
