January 2026 Residential Statistics Report
For the month of January, 342 single-family permits were issued by cities in across the eight-county area, according to statistics compiled by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (KCHBA). This is a 16 percent increase over January 2025 when 296 single-family permits were issued.
Cass and Platte counties are the only counties that issued more permits in January 2025 than in January 2026.
Kansas City, Mo., issued the most single-family permits with 53. Spring Hill and Blue Springs both issued 37 single-family permits, followed by Overland Park with 31 and Lee’s Summit with Olathe with 21.
