Home Builders Charitable Foundation Awards $70,000 to 12 Local Organizations to Advance Homeownership, Strengthen the Residential Construction Workforce

The Home Builders Charitable Foundation (HBCF) announced today that it awarded more than $70,000 in grants in 2025 to 12 local organizations, reinforcing its commitment to expanding access to homeownership and addressing the critical labor shortage facing the residential construction industry. The grants support a diverse group of community partners working to increase housing attainability and providing pathways to skilled trades careers.

“Expanding homeownership and building a strong, skilled workforce are essential to the long‑term health of our communities,” said Shane Brewer, president of Legacy Homes of KC and chair of the HBCF’s committee. “These organizations are doing transformative work, and we’re proud to support their efforts to create opportunity for families and ensure the future of the residential construction industry.”

The funded organizations provide services such as:

  • Home repair and accessibility modifications for low‑income homeowners
  • Financial literacy and homebuyer education
  • Workforce development programs introducing young people and adults to careers in the skilled trades
  • Supportive services that help families achieve long‑term housing stability

The Home Builders Charitable Foundation has a long history of investing in programs that strengthen the region’s housing ecosystem. This year’s grants continue that legacy by supporting organizations that share HBCF’s mission of homeownership for all and its commitment to developing the next generation of construction professionals.

“Addressing the labor shortage requires early exposure, hands‑on training and strong community partnerships,” added Brewer. “These grants help ensure that more individuals can access rewarding careers while supporting the housing needs of our region.”
