NAHB Meetings On Worker Misclassification

KCHBA Meets with NAHB and Select HBAs from Across the U.S. to Discuss the Dept. of Labor’s Targeting of Employers on Worker Misclassification

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has recently granted $10.2 million to 19 states to implement or improve worker misclassification programs. These programs are designed to help states identify instances where employers improperly classify employees as independent contractors or fail to report the wages paid to workers at all. The grants are also intended for states to increase audits and other enforcement actions, as seen on the ground in many states. In addition, the U.S. DOL has entered into Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with certain states to share data and enable/facilitate enforcement efforts. Missouri is one of these states. The KCHBA is working to gather additional information on this program to share with members.
