Learn the 2018 IRC Codes Before Cities Implement Them in April

Be informed about the 2018 IRC codes before Lee’s Summit and Lenexa start implementation on April 1 (and other cities quickly follow) and earn CE hours to renew your license at the same time. The HBA is hosting CE classes Jan. 31-Feb. 1 on two topics:

Major Changes between 2012 to 2018 IRC – Thursday, Jan. 31 – 8 hour credit
This course will guide participants through the major changes that have occurred in the International Residential Code (IRC) from 2012 to 2018. This class will be of interest to designers, general and sub-contractors, building inspectors, plans examiners, architects and engineers. Anyone working in the one-and-two family dwelling environment will also benefit from learning about 2018 IRC changes. On completion, students will be able to identify and explain the major revisions, as well as understand and apply the intent of those changes.

Building Planning and Construction – Friday, Feb. 1 – 8 hour credit
This course will provide code enforcers with the knowledge necessary to administer, enforce and build according to code requirements set by the International Residential Code (IRC). This class will provide participants with various checklists and methods that will help determine if the location of the building, the design, the construction and all other components are code compliant. The purpose of this seminar is to inform participants of IRC requirements regarding public safety, affordability, structural strength, sanitation, light and ventilation, energy conservation, as well as safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment.
