KCHBA Recognizes Justin Pfeifer, Annual Award Winners at Holiday Celebration
The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (KCHBA) is proud to announce Justin Pfeifer, president of Pfeifer Homes, as 2025 President of the KCHBA. As president, Pfeifer’s goals include growing and strengthening the membership of the KCHBA as well as serving new and future homeowners by promoting homeownership and attainable housing.
Pfeifer began working in the building industry as a teenager on a framing crew scrapping out the jobsites and learning the framing trade. From there he worked his way up alongside his father’s superintendents through his high school and college years. After college he began working in an office role, which ultimately carried on to the position he’s in today.
Also recognized at the KCHBA’s Inaugural celebration were this year’s award winners.
Bob Bollier Award for Sales and Marketing
For the more than decade, the KCHBA has recognized the importance of sales and marketing and has paid tribute to the late Bob Bollier (pronounced “Boy-A”) with an award presented in his honor. I’m told Bob was a man who was beloved by many for his generous spirit and undeniable dedication to his friends within the KCHBA and the Sales and Marketing Council.
This year’s Sales and Marketing award goes to Brenda Sanders of Weichert, Welch & Company.
Sanders is a seasoned real estate broker in Kansas City with over three decades of experience in new home construction. She has served as an on-site agent, worked in development, marketing, and successfully launched numerous new home communities. Sanders has brokered and sold a wide range of properties, from single-family homes, to multi-million-dollar estates, villas, townhomes and land. Her extensive knowledge and hands-on experience has earned her the reputation of a trusted friend in the industry.
Fred J. Geier Associate of the Year
The Associate of the Year has been a proud tradition for years and in 2010 a new tradition began by naming it the Fred J. Geier Associate of the Year. Fred was honored three times as Associate of the Year and was a man of true character who will be remembered by the many lives he touched.
The winner of this year’s Associate of the Year award is Tom Rensenhouse of Rensen House of Lights.
In 1972, Tom Rensenhouse opened his first lighting showroom in Lenexa, Kan. From the start, Tom built a company on the belief of bringing the newest lighting technology from the best manufacturers in the industry to Kansas City. His company’s dedication to providing homeowners and home builders with the best products, service and technical support for over 50 years continues today.
Rensenhouse has been a member of the KCHBA since the 1970s, serving on the association’s board of directors in the 1980s and he is a supporter of the Home Builders Charitable Foundation.
Next Generation Builder Award
The Next Generation Builders Award, which was established in 2013 to encourage and recognize young, up-and-coming builders. It recognizes the achievements of one young leader who exhibits these important characteristics: a quality builder, an involved and innovative volunteer, and reliable spokesperson for the industry.
The 2024 Next Gen Builder Award went to Sean Flandermeyer, co-owner of Elevate Design + Build.
Flandermeyer’s passion for home building started at a young age with his business partner Mike Yancik. After a 12-year hiatus from the industry he made his way back to the homebuilding industry with Mike Yancik and Angie Beerup in 2017.
Flandermeyer’s contributions to the KCHBA have had a significant impact; primarily his focus as the chair of the Builder’s Council was to drive attendance through high value content that young and experienced builders can leverage in their day-to-day. His vision was to create a space for builders to share innovative ideas and collaborate in order to navigate the challenges of residential home homebuilding.
Builder Hall of Fame
In 1972, the HBA of Greater Kansas City established the George W. Byers memorial award to pay tribute to builders providing distinguished service to the home building industry. In 1993, the honor was renamed the Builder Hall of Fame Award in recognition of the lifetime of service the recipients have contributed to our industry, our association and our community.
The honoree of this year’s Builder Hall of Fame award is Don Julian of Don Julian Builders.
Don Julian’s journey is a remarkable blend of professional expertise and personal passion. Transferred to Kansas City as an engineer, Julian’s search for a perfect home led him to build a custom house for his family. This experience sparked a profound interest in residential construction, and he boldly transitioned into homebuilding as his full-time vocation.
Over the past 50 years, Julian has become a homebuilding “legend.” His company has constructed over 2,500 of the finest homes in the metro area, contributing to an incredible $1 billion in completed homes. This legacy of excellence is a testament to Julian’s dedication and vision.
Congratulations to this year’s award winners and to our 2025 KCHBA President Justin Pfeifer of Pfeifer Homes!
