Kansas Legislative Day

On Wednesday, January 27, KCHBA and other members of the Kansas Building Industry Association (KBIA) gathered in Topeka for Kansas Legislative Day.  The day served as an important opportunity to meet with legislators face-to-face and discuss current issues affecting home builders.  Notable meetings with legislators from KCHBA’s jurisdiction included Majority Floor Leader Jene Vickrey, Senator Kay Wolf, Representative and Chair of the House Committee on Taxation Marvin Kleeb and Representative Stan Frownfelter, who specializes in housing issues for the minority party.  The purpose of these meetings was to share KCHBA’s legislative agenda for Kansas, to make sure our legislative positions on certain issues are clear, and to encourage support of the home building industry as the session continues.  In the evening, members attended the legislative reception held by KBIA that was open to all Kansas legislators.  There was a strong showing of Senators and Representatives, giving members the chance to continue to build relationships with elected officials who are regularly making decisions that impact the industry.
