January 2024 Residential Statistics Report

Single Family Permits Start 2024 Strong

For the month of January, 310 single-family housing permits were issued in the eight-county Kansas City region — a strong start compared to the 185 issued in January 2023, according to statistics compiled by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (KCHBA). Johnson County was the highest permitting county in the metro area with 94 single-family permits issued.

After slipping from the top spot in December, Kansas City, Mo., was once again the top permitting city for January with 42 single-family permits. Spring Hill issued the second most with 38, followed by Blue Springs, 33, Overland Park, 21, and Lee’s Summit with 20 permits issued.
