The number of single-family permits issued in February, 298, remained almost identical to the previous month when 294 single-family housing permits were issued in the eight-county Kansas City region, according to statistics compiled by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (KCHBA). Nationally, housing starts increased 11.2 percent in February, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau.

For the first two months of the year, 594 housing permits have been issued in the eight-county region, which is a slight decline of 7% compared to the first two months of 2024.

Once again, four of the five the top permitting cities for February were located in Johnson County, Kan. While Kansas City, Mo., issued the most single-family permits in February with 42, Olathe issued 29, Overland Park issued 23, Lenexa issued 22 and Spring Hill issued 19.
