Blue Springs Residents Will Vote on Sales Tax Increase to Fund Parks

There will be a special election on Tuesday, November 5 for registered voters in Blue Springs to consider a sales tax increase for the purpose of providing funds for city parks. The funds could go towards building a new recreation center or for park maintenance, operations and development or retirement of indebtedness relating to local parks. According to the city, the ½ cent sales tax would add 1 cent for every $2 purchase or 25 cents for every $50 spent in Blue Springs and would raise $3 million annually. If approved, the sales tax rate in Blue Springs would go from 7.975% to 8.475%.
