Aug 19 – Kansas City Building Symposium

The KCMO Planning and Development Department has spent the past several months working with a consultant, Zucker and Associates, to conduct an independent analysis of its operations and develop recommendations on how to improve its customer service and management structure.  On July 16, the consultant presented its final 377-page report to the KCMO City Council’s Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Committee.  Some of the recommendations are welcome, such as developing a tracking system for applications that arrive and tracking correspondence related to plans, while others raise red flags, such as increasing existing fees and adding frees for services not currently covered.

According to Greg Franzen, the KCMO building official, the Department plans to use the report as a guide to implement vast changes to its operations.  Greg will be at the HBA on Tuesday, August 19 at 11:30 a.m. to discuss the consultant’s report and answer questions. Join us at the symposium and make your voice heard!  You may also download a copy of the consultant’s final report here.
