Benefits of Membership
MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN
TO ALL COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED
IN THE HOUSING INDUSTRY. BELOW ARE SOME
OF THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING AN HBA MEMBER
AND BECOMING ACTIVE IN THE HOUSING INDUSTRY.
|
|
|
Continuing
Education
The HBA offers in-house educational
seminars throughout the year. These
seminars aid understanding of aspects
of the industry and several can be
credited toward a professional designation.
These in-house seminars as well as
other Kansas City area educational
seminars are listed in the HBA's monthly
publication, Builder Business News,
and This Week at the HBA. |
|
|
|
Networking
Opportunities
The HBA hosts many events that offer
the opportunity for members to meet
and do business with other HBA members
in both formal and casual atmospheres.
Networking events include; regional
membership meetings, awards banquets
and golf tournaments. The HBA encourages
all members to actively do business
with one another and has established
the "Do Business with a Member"
program to encourage builder-associates
as well as associates-associates
relationships for the mutual benefit
of both their companies and
the industry. |
|
|
|
Marketing
Opportunities
Members can promote their businesses
by advertising in the Builder Business
News, and the bi-annual homes tour
books (The Parade of Homes Official
Guidebook and The Spring Homes Tour
Official Guidebook.) Members will
receive a 10 percent discount when
they exhibit at the HOME SHOW, Kansas
City's largest and most comprehensive
home products show held at Bartle
Hall every spring, and the HOME SHOW-Fall
Edition, the area's exclusive fall
home product show also held at Bartle
Hall. Exhibiting in the shows is
a
valuable way of presenting products
and services to a targeted consumer/builder
audience. Builder members have the
opportunity to shine when they enter
their homes into the Spring Homes
Tour and the Parade of Homes. The
tours, which spotlight the housing
industry, bring hundreds of thousands
of interested, potential home buyers
right to members' doors. Our tours
are the country's second largest,
with more than 400 entries on each
tour. |
|
|
|
Recognition
Membership in the HBA provides many
opportunities to be honored as one
of the industry's best. In addition
to the contests associated with the
Spring Homes Tour and the Parade of
Homes, members can enter their marketing
ideas and promotions in the Metropolitan
Awards for Marketing Excellence (MAME)
contest. Winners are showcased at
HBA events and in the tour books.
There is also recognition for builder
and associate of the year. |
|
|
|
Statistical
Data
Members can learn who the market leaders
are. Additionally, members can learn
about the metropolitan hot spots by
subscribing to the HBA's Residential
Permit Analysis Reports, which list
the top builders, developments and
addresses of the building permits
pulled each month and for previous
months in seven counties. The reports
aid builders with the planning process
and help associates develop sales
leads. |
| |
|
Legislative
Assistance
The HBA's Governmental Affairs Department
helps members respond to the political
and legislative challenges facing
the housing industry by forming task
forces to resolve issues, arranging
periodic roundtables with local government
officials and city staff and informing
state government officials about the
impact of legislation on the housing
industry. |
|
|
|
